Copper Sulphate, 500g - £3.49

Base material for copper plating.

Copper Plating Wetter 250ml - £7.99

A supreme, formulated copper wetter which helps alleviate pitting problems. Air sticking to the surface of the component can disrupt the plating process.

Copper plating can be used for decorative purposes or functional purposes and is one of the few coloured metals. As it is a reasonably ductile metal, copper can be easily polished and is commonly used in restoration plating either as a stand alone finish or more commonly as an electroplated deposit prior to nickel and / or chrome plating.

Copper can be plated in it’s dull state or bright plated. A standard dull deposit can be attained using the base chemistry of copper sulphate and sulphuric acid. It should be noted however that these solutions will not adhere to all surfaces, so often a “flash” plate of another deposit type may be required.

A standard dull acid copper plate can be employed for long electroplating periods in order to put a “high build” up of copper on the surface, this is ideal to cover imperfections in a components surface, which can then be polished to a bright finish with skilled polishing techniques.

To avoid polishing and the high use of copper from solution, a bright solution should be employed. A bright copper plating solution will allow an attractive finish to be attained in a fraction of the time with a lot less effort and removes the need for polishing, which is a skilled process on its own.

Bright Acid Copper Plating Solution

This acid based solution is an industrial grade bright copper solution and produces really great results. Supplied ready to use, it contains all of the base ingredients and a blend of highly complex chemical brightening additives to give a really attractive, yet easy to attain finish. As this is a bright solution, it does not need to be plated for anywhere near as long as a standard “dull” copper solution and does not need expert polishing and patience to get a really attractive finish.

Acid Copper Plating Solution

This acid based solution is an industrial grade dull copper solution and produces really great results. Supplied ready to use, it contains all of the base ingredients to electroplate what is often known as a “high build” copper deposit. Parts can be plated for longer periods in order to get a thicker deposit which can then be polished to a bright finish in a traditional manner.

PDO Copper Anodes - £10.99

NEVER accept the alternative! Acid copper solutions MUST use PDO grade copper anodes. This pack of 3 anodes are approximately 25 x 30mm and are industrial standard for acid copper plating. Using ANY other grade will be detrimental to the plating solution and can cause plating issues. Simple suspend using titanium like any other anode.
